PV/IR Industrial Ray-Splitter and Concentrator
Our PV/IR Industrial Ray-Splitter and Concentrator technology is a combination photovoltaic concentrator and high heat thermal concentrator that generates in excess of twice as many watts per square meter than the current state of the art technology in large-scale power plant technologies.
The attractiveness of the PV/IR Industrial Ray-Splitter and Concentrator technology is as much about what it does as what it does not do. Some of the factors that separate Lumenco’s PV/IR Industrial Ray-Splitter and Concentrator from current offerings on the market today include: it does not need vast amounts of water; it does not require chemicals that pollute the ground; it is not dangerous to operate; and ituses a smaller footprint per watt than any other solar device. It is the cheapest device per watt to manufacture, and can be made to produce power 24 hours per day. Power output, depending upon the configuration of the thermal component, can be as high as 600 watts per meter squared compared to about 150-200 watts per meter squared in traditional thermal solar concentrators. Operating costs are also much lower, requiring very little labor for cleaning due to automation, and in many variations, no water is needed at all. In short, our PV/IR Industrial Ray-Splitter and Concentrator device will render obsolete today’s trough and tower technologies, as well as the more modern concentrators using linear optics.
While primarily designed for industrial power plants, smaller versions could be designed for commercial and rural uses.
